A Harmless Lie, Care Of Students' County Supervisor
A tip from a friend... Said friend was of sober and solid mindset at the time of this:
"A few nights ago, I was waiting in line at the Jin's Chicken and Fish cart on Frances Street, next to Brats, when I saw Ashok Kumar in the line. I knew him from a rally at some student org kickoff in the fall. I'd heard him another time, as he walked in front of me on State, explain to a beautiful girl that, like her, he too was a vegetarian; it was one of his key beliefs that it was flat wrong to kill living beings, and eat their flesh. That sounded pretty sincere to me. Ashok standing in line for the Chicken and Fish cart struck me as odd then, since Jins in no way caters to vegetarians - it's all meat. I thought he might be waiting with a friend, but then he ended up ordering a sandwich when he walked up. Ashok's friend told the guy taking orders that Ashok was a vegetarian, had never seen him eat meat before... but Ashok interrupted quickly, 'but f*ck that, 'cause this chicken smells delicious!' The guy then chowed down the minute he got the chicken."
Being a vegetarian, swearing to never eat meat... Not a big thing to lie about, especially to a pretty girl who's caught your eye.
But it might make one wonder... what else, of our District Five Supervisor's core beliefs, might be false?

I'm a member of the UWMadison Greek community and I saw Ashok wearing an abercrombie button up shirt (light pink) to a fraternity party. Abercrombie uses sweatshop labor. Practice what you preach, Ashok.
Be nice to Ashok. You are attacking him for small little things while ignoring the bigger issues he is tackling. So what if he isn't a vegetarian, when he is stopping the racist State St. Halloween charge and helping out tenants with his hard work on the DC board. And how do you know that shirt wasn't a gift? Ashok Kumar is awesome and you are hacks for attacking him.
Oh no! Does this mean Ashok is going to go all George Allen on us? His 'macaca moment' perhaps?
Anony 2...
Can you show me a resolution that HE, HIMSELF, came up with - not on the orders of someone else - and pressed through...?
i hate being called racist by ashok
Dude, Ashok used to hit on my friends back when I lived at Statesider. He sure can spit some game, but he's a real creep.
Anony 2 - that you, Taurick?
Ashok is the man. He's done more on the board than the rest of the supervisors combined. And he is definately a vegetarian, I've known him a long time and he's never eaten any meat. This blog post is useless.
Here's my take on the issue: http://beyondthemadisonbubble.blogspot.com/2007/07/ashok-kumar.html
I think the anecdote is humorous and probably only half-true. On my blog I provide an easy way of excusing Kumar's supposed offense, but I suppose we should take this stuff with a grain of salt. Like I'm sure our illustrious Supervisor is doing right now.
